Molecular Characterization of Staphylococcus aureus Bloodstream Isolates in a Dutch University Hospital between 1999 and 2006.Nulens E, Stobberingh EE, van Dessel H, Sebastian S, van Tiel FH, Beisser PS, Deurenberg RH Department of Medical Microbiology, General Hospital St. Jan, Brugge, Belgium; and Department of Medical Microbiology, University Hospital Maastricht, Maastricht, The Netherlands. This study observed that, between 1999 and 2006, up to 50% of the MSSA bloodstream isolates in our hospital had a genetic background common to endemic MRSA clones (clonal complex (CC) 5. 8, 22, 30 and 45). Furthermore, several successful MSSA lineages, such as CC 7 and 15, were observed. Published 8 May 2008 in J Clin Microbiol.
